Report fly posting

What is fly posting

Fly posting is illegal advertising using posters, flyers or types of other literature, which are:

  • Displayed without permission
  • Fail to meet certain conditions

We aim to remove flyposting within ten working days of it being reported.

We can take enforcement action against anyone caught flyposting and any venue or business benefiting from an illegal advertisement.

Advertising guidelines

Not all adverts are fly posting, as long as guidelines are followed and permission is given you may be able to advertise your event.

Community and charity advertising

If you are holding a local event for charitable purposes, such as a fete, you may be granted permission known as ‘deemed consent’

Business advertising

If your advertisement is for a business or commercial operation you should check whether your need permission before displaying adverts by contacting our planning department. You may need to apply for advertisement consent to display an advertisement bigger than 0.3 square metres (or any size if illuminated) on the front of, or outside, your property (be it a house or business premises).
